I revised A Ghetto Girl’s Dream to paint a fuller, more authentic picture of what life in the ghetto once was before the streets became as destructive as they are today. In the past, even with poverty and struggle, there was a stronger sense of community, pride, and survival with purpose. Families looked out for one another, neighbors shared what little they had, and despite limited opportunities, there was hope and ambition to rise above.

This revision contrasts those earlier days with the harsh realities of today where drugs, violence, and a loss of unity have devastated many Black communities. The book explores how mentality,
lifestyle, and outcomes have shifted over time, revealing a transformation that has led to what feels like a quiet genocide on our streets. My purpose is to remind readers of where we came
from, how things have changed, and why reclaiming our strength, pride, and love for one another is more critical now than ever. Take a look at a different view as we move forward together.
